Raleigh, NC Roadtrip 2012 - Day 5

Today was another great day in North Carolina! Becca and I went on a 1.5 hour morning walk through the University of North Carolina’s Wilmington campus. Our mission was to walk to the beach but our host’s house was too far away.

Becca, Brit, Amy, and me at The Basics
Once we got back to Brit’s house, it was time to pack up and head to breakfast. Brit and her friend Amy took us to a nice little downtown restaurant called The Basics. The menu was southern style brunch…really good food! It was great hearing Brit & Amy’s stories about their childhood. They grew up in Florida and knew each other since 7th Grade. I think their best story was one day they decided to look into the browsing history of Brit’s parent’s computer and seen multiple sites for the definition of “Swingers.” Brit is in denial that her parents are swingers, but Amy thinks it is true HAHA!

After breakfast, Brit took us to the river front. Many shops and restaurants and on the other side of the river, there is an old war battleship. Becca and I walked the front for about an hour and then made our way back to the beach. This time we hit up Wrightsville Beach. In my opinion, Wrightsville Beach was much better than Carolina Beach.

By 2:00, we were on the road again making our way to Raleigh, NC…where the wedding is being held. I drove this 2.5 hour stretch while Becca slept. Once we arrived at the hotel, we had a little issue checking in. They had us arriving on Friday and leaving on Sunday…oops. This is the first hotel that I’ve stayed at who serves a complimentary dinner Monday – Thursday and offers an open bar! (But it sure was added into the room costs.)

We ended the night with Becca’s entire family sitting outside on the patio drinking and telling stories. We will see what the wedding brings tomorrow!
