Boy how time flies when you are enjoying yourself seeing the
good ol’ USA. It was another day of just driving. We started our day at 7:00am
and ended up in Swanton, OH…at you guessed it…another Days Inn. I like the
interstates, but that is not the way to see the sights. But when time is short,
that is what you have to do to get home.
Our first little ‘side-trip’ was to the Fredricksburg, VA
farmers market. The stuff at the farmers market was very nice looking. There
were so many strawberries and they were rather large also! We almost bought a
pint to eat along the way.
We stopped a few times for bathroom breaks and stretching. Once we hit PA, we entered the turnpike and had to pay tolls the rest of the way. In total, we paid $13 to use the PA Turnpike and then in OH we paid another $13 thus far with more to come.
Since it was Cinco De Mayo...
Lance wanted to eat at a Mexican restaurant so he could snag a margarita. We traveled to one place called La Fiesta but there was a 45 minute wait, so he used his phone to find another Mexican Restaurant. A place called Amigos was our final destination. Lance didn’t like it that much because it wasn’t authentic enough for him LOL! After dinner, we traveled back to our hotel, but stopped along the way to grab some ice cream at Mel-O-Cream. Very good ice cream, and well worth your money! Pat ordered a small cone in a cup and they gave her a medium sized soda cup filled with delicious ice cream… topped with a cone.

It would be nice to see the country by the back roads, but
there never is enough time. The east
coast is pretty with lots of trees, PA has hills and in some clearings you see
more farms, OH you see more farming of the land. MD is very nice scenery with trees and
battlegrounds. Learned about a lot of
history on this trip, would like to learn more on the states going up north on
the coast someday. It was an enjoyable
trip, but I still felt a little rushed.
It will be hard to get back into the work routine, but that is life.
