We started our day at 8:45am eating breakfast in
Williamsburg at Mama Steves, another pancake house…who would have thought LOL!
Another day of walking, walking, and more walking…we sure
are getting our exercise this week. It is also heating up, but at least there
was a small breeze. Today was our second and last day at Colonial Williamsburg.
It was less crowded than Monday, but there was still numerous middle school groups
learning about history. During a tour at the coffeehouse in the colonial village,
we were given the opportunity to drink either coffee, tea, or a special spiced chocolate
drink. I chose to try the chocolate concoction. It was a popular choice back in
the day…I added cream to make it less bitter; it was interesting. We learned
about the year 1776 and how America worked towards its independence. Lance also broke the heart of Molly, a young
lady from 1776. She was waiting for him to ask her to marry him, but he was
speechless…she then called him a “drake” and started spreading rumors about him
with the other spectators. I think whatever that meant I am sure it was not
good. Poor guy ha ha.
For supper, we were intrigued to find out what kind of food a
restaurant called “Food for Thought” served, so we gave them our business.
Apparently it was comfort food. Lance had meatloaf, Pat had open-faced roast
beef and potatoes, and I tried their cheesy grits. They were ok, a little
thick, not sure I will order them again, but at least I did try grits LOL!
We even did a little shopping at the Williamsburg Premium
Outlet Mall. IT WAS HUGE! After a few hours (basically until it closed at
9:00pm), we were ready to call it quits and plan out our big adventure for
tomorrow…Washington D.C.
