Williamsburg, VA Roadtrip - Day 3

Trip log for Monday, April 30…

The day started by talking with the concierge asking him questions on what there was to do or see around the area –doesn’t that sound classy LOL… some Midwesterners talking to a concierge.

We decided to see Colonial Williamsburg and go back in time… But first we needed breakfast so we tried out one of the many Pancake and Waffle houses out here.  We chose the Old Mill, although I had French toast which was excellent Lance and Pat had a waffle with malt. Everything was very good.  Apparently the people in the east like their waffles and pancakes...I am all for the waffles.

We bought the 3 day pass to Colonial Williamsburg.  Well, we had 2 days of sitting and now  we had a day of walking, walking, & more walking…my dogs were wore out by the end of the day; I am defiantly getting older ha ha!!  It is kind of nice taking our vacation before the busy times, a lot less crowded. But there were a lot of middle school kids at Williamsburg, must have been their end of the school year trips.

Anyway, the part of Colonial Williamsburg we walked through today reminded me of Living History Farm in Des Moines only for the upper class people. There was the Governor’s Palace, and its gardens, the Fox Gloves were in full bloom and were very pretty. There was the courthouse where on the steps they read the Declaration of Independence. There was the round guard house,  where there were guns hanging all around on the walls, and I want to mention also when you entered the governor’s Palace the walls were covered with guns and swords,  I am not sure if he wanted to intimidate you or show off when you entered his palace, I wonder….

We ended this day at Colonial Williamsburg at the merchants square checking out all the shops, I do enjoy looking at shops.  I look for Christmas ornaments for my vacation Christmas tree. We ended the entire day eating at Red-Hot & Blue, they have excellent food. I had the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich, YUMM… EXCELLENT EATS!! I do recommend that place…we even got back to the room in time for me to watch Dancing with the Stars! WhoooHoo!!! I will let you know what we do next, later…but now it is time to get some shut eye and rest for tomorrow’s day of walking…oh boy!
